Food: Bigger than the Plate

10/05/2019

We proudly announce the participation of Fabrico Próprio in the exhibition Food: Bigger than the Plate, organized by the Victoria & Albert Museum in London from 18 May to 20 October 2019. The curator of this exhibition on the intersections between food and design, Catherine Flood, has selected the New Cakes and Rare Species of Self-Manufacture for the Eating section dedicated to revealing how a meal links us culturally, socially, and politically.
The inclusion in this exhibition of these two dimensions of our research on the design of semi-industrial Portuguese pastry marks another participation of the Own Manufacturing in an initiative dedicated to food and design – among many others we highlight the BIO50, Design Biennial of Ljubljana, where we investigated the interfaces of Slovenian milk.
Our participation in this exhibition also marks a conclusive stage of our own manufacture, since it coincides with the sale of the last copies of the second edition of our book. 20 copies (10 of them signed by us) will be put up for sale this week at the V&A museum in London.
