Inês Matos Andrade

She has enjoyed eating since she was a plump, pink, six-month-old baby who sweated profusely while suckling. As a teenager, she filled dozens of diaries on family trips with visual, taste and smell descriptions of the meals she took throughout the day, and stole menus from the restaurants she visited. She studied journalism at the University of Porto’s Faculty of Letters, was the Comer&Beber section editor at Time Out Porto and Lisbon and is currently the director of the gastronomy and events department at O Apartamento agency. Along the way she has written here and there, for Fare Magazine and Farta magazine, which highlights popular Portuguese gastronomy; or for the Parts Unknown program’s digital guide; she was responsible for editing the first Lisbon Insiders guides and was the gastronomic curator of the Lisboa Criola project. During the pandemic, she ventured into fiction and was distinguished with an Honorable Mention by Dulce Maria Cardoso, Afonso Cruz, João Tordo and Conceição Antunes, jury of the Fnac New Talents Award, with the short story “Prova de Vida”.
She sleeps eight hours a day, works another eight, and the remaining eight are spent cooking, eating, researching food, putting together maps and restaurant guides or posting about it on the Instagram account @inesmatosandrade.
