Your participation means a lot to us, and we would like you to keep giving us ideas, suggestions of cakes and above all that you tell us the stories that you may know about each one of them.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #540000;\">We also think now is a good time to make a : in the name of objectivity and to set ourselves our own limits of observation and works, we decidied that the Fabrico Pr\u00f3prio book will be exclusively dedicated to one portion\/unit cakes that are to be found in potentially all the cake shops and caf\u00e9s in the country.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #540000;\">Having said that, to us cakes such as\u00a0<strong>sliced cakes<\/strong>\u00a0(that\u2019s why we don\u2019t mention P\u00e3o de L\u00f3 or Bolo Rei, to quote two \u201cheavyweights\u201d of thse kind of cakes),\u00a0<strong>regional specialties<\/strong>\u00a0(like Fofos de Belas, Queijadas de Sintra, Dom Rodrigos, Ovos Moles or Cristas de Galo, or Tortas de Guimar\u00e3es, here in a photo from Rita Marquito), examples of\u00a0<strong>conventual sweets<\/strong>\u00a0(like Encharcadas or Barrigas de Freira) are not eligible. We also don\u2019t include\u00a0<strong>miniatures<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0<strong>assorted biscuits<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 we reckon all this would fuel other books\u2026<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #540000;\">You can still find in our list (which is still incomplete on the site) some cakes that canbe seen as regional cakes or convent specialties, such as Jesu\u00edtas (that come from Santo Tirso), Past\u00e9is de Nata (that evolved form a recipe from the Monastery of Santa Maria de Bel\u00e9m to Past\u00e9is de Bel\u00e9m, and today are scattered all over the world as Natas) or Tigeladas (also known as Tigeladas de Abrantes). However, these three cakes, and all the ones in our book, are today \u201ccommon property\u201d of all Portuguese, and when we eat each of them we don\u2019t think about their origin.
