After we heard that Rita Pop and Z\u00e9 Cardoso of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/theportugueseconspiracy.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Portuguese Conspiracy<\/a>\u00a0were organising a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/812753068837299\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Christmas pop-up shop<\/a>\u00a0at\u00a0the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/thepillboxkitchen.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Pill Box Kitchen<\/a>\u00a0on Saturday, we thought it was just the right time to introduce Rita and Z\u00e9 to Filipe Almeida Santos and launch another of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fabricoproprio.net\/2009\/11\/novos-bolos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">six new Fabrico Pr\u00f3prio cake ideas<\/a>\u00a0that resulted from our\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fabricoproprio.net\/2007\/10\/workshop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2-day workshop in 2008.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Filipe trained and worked as an architect but just over two years ago started studying pastry at the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/escolas.turismodeportugal.pt\/escola\/escola-de-hotelaria-e-turismo-do-oeste\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Oeste School of Tourism and Hotel Management\u00a0<\/a>in Caldas da Rainha\/\u00d3bidos. Here he was a student of chef Paulo Santos, with whom we\u2019ve worked to develop a new set of cakes \u2013 as featured in Disegno magazine. Two of these\u00a0cakes\u00a0have already been launched in Portugal: the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fabricoproprio.net\/2014\/12\/um-novo-bolo-para-maria-helena-vieira-da-silva\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Espetada<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fabricoproprio.net\/2015\/04\/libertina-um-novo-bolo-de-fabrico-proprio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Libertina<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Vulc\u00e3o, Vulcano in English, is a cake that started from its name: what does a cake\u00a0called\u00a0Vulc\u00e3o look and taste like? \u2013 asked Rita Jo\u00e3o at the time.<\/p>\n<p>This is what Filipe has been working out in his spare time at the Flemings Mayfair Hotel in London, where he is currently the head pastry chef following stints with renowned chefs such as Joaquim Sousa at The Oitavos, Jos\u00e9 Avilez at Belcanto and Pierre Gagnaire at Sketch.<\/p>\n<p><strong>And now\u2019s the time\u00a0to see and taste the results.<br \/>\nJoin us September 28th from 2h30 pm.<br \/>\nWe\u2019ll be serving Vulc\u00f5es and signing books.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/812753068837299\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Portuguese Conspiracy\u00a0Portuguese Xmas Pop Up<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nThe Pill Box Kitchen<br \/>\n115 Coventry Road, E2 6GG London<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Vulc\u00e3o!
