Variations include: raisin, chocolate chips, almond, walnut, apple and others. <em>H &amp; C:<\/em> Considered to be an homage to Catherine of Braganza, Queen of England, who, it is said, brought a recipe for Fruitcake upon returning to Portugal in the 17th century. The name <em>Queque<\/em> is in fact a transliteration of the English word cake, and its most common shape alludes to a queen&#8217;s crown.
