Photos and Stories
The list of all the cakes we have identified and will feature in the Fabrico Próprio cake is now complete. However, not all the cakes there have a photo, as we haven’t, in our many incursions in pastelarias in the Porto and Lisboa areas, and beyond, been able to photograph all the specimens we have found. And that’s why we need your help.
We want to have the maximum amount of photos of each of the listed cakes, so we can show the veriety – and often the singularity! – of Portuguese cakes. If inside the book we’ll have, in what we call the encyclopaedia, one and only one photograph of each cake, shot against white and with the proper lighting – what we call the cake archetype collection – here we want to have the wildest variations of those archetypes, from all over the country – and beyond.
Please send your photos to info info[at]fabricoproprio.net or add them to our Flickr Group. We’ll take care of placing them on the site and credit them accordingly.
We would also like to ask you for one more thing: we need stories. Does someone know for how long has the Caracol been made? And where does the Jesuíta come from (this one we know)? And what was the Pirâmide called back in the 70s (this one we know too)? And where does the Tíbia get its name – and its shape??? We want to fill the voids in our historical research, that has taken from the National Library to the tables of master Confectioners, experts in the area and gastronomical specialists. Please tell us everything you know. They don’t have to be scientifically validated, they can be legends or urban myths connected to each cake. Just leave a comment on each cake.
