Rare Species

Throughout the country we find cakes that surprise us by their extraordinary qualities, either in their size, sweetness or exceptional variations. They are to us like rare species, and deserve to be catalogued with particular attention and care. For that, we invited Guida Casella, a specialist in scientific and archaeologic illustration, to observe – and record – some of these confectionery eccentricities.

Guida Casella

Illustrator, designer and researcher in the field of science visual communication, she holds a bachelor degree in painting and a masters in scientific illustration. Since 2002 she collaborates with the German Archaeological Institute, doing drawing and topography in archaeological excavations, infographics for scientific publications and 3D animation for virtual reconstructions of the past for museum presentations.
