Bolas de Berlim for All
With or without their custardy cream, Bolas de Berlim (or Berlin Balls, or Berliners) are a fundamental part of many memorable days spent at Portuguese beaches. We want to pay hommage to some of the people we most admire within the national confectionery universe: the Bolas de Berlim sellers. Photographer Pedro Garcia found – and shot – in the coast of the Algarve eight of these brave individuals, who defy the heat, the sun, the hot sand and other obstacles – such as frisbees, craters in the sand hidden by towels and beach tennis balls – to bring us some of the greatest summer pleasures in Portugal.
