Brotherhood

03/07/2008

The launch of the Pastel de Nata Brotherhood took place at Pastelaria Vresailles, in Lisbon, on the 1st of July, and Rita, Pedro and Frederico were there to take part and hand out posters and Pastel de Nata badges to all the fellow brothers.
This brotherhood started on the online social network The Startracker, which gathers Portuguese professionals scattered throughout the world. We agree with what José António Sousa, Stratracker memeber and founder of the brotherhood (and who can se found in the centre of the photo) told Lusa (Portugal’s news agency): “The Pastel de Nata is a very banal thing in the life of the Portuguese and therefore can help to spread the image of Portugal abroad”. One of the first initiatives of the Brotherhood was the creration of a Pastel de Nata World Map, which can be found on the pasteisdenata.org website, and that was an idea of André Gonçalves from Wizi. The photo on this post is by Catarina Magalhães Ramalho.

Is is with great satisfaction that we see the start of this brotherhood — which shares so many of the same goals of the Fabrico Próprio project — and we hope it will gather many brothers and sisters! If our Diaspora and our Flickr Group are anything to go by, it won’t be hard to find members…
