[...] Look for “Fabrico Próprio” on the signs, windows, and packaging of Portugal’s cafés and cake shops. Meaning “Own Production,” it is a multidisciplinary project dedicated to semi-industrial Portuguese confectionery and its relation to design, authored by the Portuguese designers Rita João, Pedro Ferreira and Frederico Duarte. The words “Fabrico Próprio” are a warrant of freshness and quality as well as uniqueness and prestige, of the baked goods they sell, most of them sweet, one-portion cakes. Started in January 2006, the project includes a series of launches in Portugal and abroad and a workshop with designers, master bakers and other sweet-toothed people, due to take place from now to June 2008. A book with 250 pages is also being produced. www.fabricoproprio.net/fabrico-proprio/bolos-de-portugal/ [...]
